I’m Giving These Small Shop Resources Away For Free

Because I know what it’s like to stand behind the counter day in, day out.
Because I’ve learned what works the hard way over three decades.
Because I believe shopkeeping is real work, worthy of real support.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m being naïve.
Even the big companies, the ones with teams of analysts and fancy offices, won’t give independent retailers the tiniest crumb from their table.
So I do ask myself: maybe there’s a reason.
Maybe they know something I don’t?

After all, I can’t find anyone else doing this.
Not like this. Not for us.

But then a thought occurs to me - maybe it’s because I know something they don’t.

I know lots of somethings.

Thirty-four years behind the counter will do that. Thirty-four years of noticing. Listening. Experimenting. Getting it wrong. Getting it right.
Perfecting the craft.

The kind of knowledge you’ll never learn in a corporate boardroom.

And I’ve read the books too, trust me. A lot of books!
Some have their moments. A few golden nuggets here and there.
But none of them are written for the life we lead.
The independent shop floor life. The seven-things-at-once life. The “hang on, I’ll just move this box and grab your gift receipt” life.

That’s why I’m here.
Because shopkeepers deserve to be seen and deserve to be served.
And that’s why I’m sharing this - in a spirit of solidarity and a spirit of generosity - from one shopkeeper to another.

I’m a Businesswoman Too

Of course I can’t share everything I’ve learnt for free. That wouldn’t be fair to the work I’ve put in, and it wouldn’t be good business. 

There will be paid products.
But they’re going to be a whole lot different to the other paid products out there - those high-ticket masterminds and the premium coaching programmes - they’re just not my style. Because I’m in this to help as many shopkeepers as possible.
